I cannot think of a more suitable time to be healed than during the taking of the communion meal. It seals the covenant. Two weeks ago we saw, in our Reach Eastwood church, some marvellous examples. One of our leaders had preached on Covenant and my wife, Paula, and I were administering the bread and wine. I declared that, as this sealed the covenant promise, we should expect many to be healed as we took the elements. Upon finishing, no less than 7 people testified to their sicknesses and injuries being healed.
Last week we cheered on as 5 people were baptised. As their old life was being left behind, as it were in the bottom of the pool, 2 of them, David and Kath, exited minus knee injuries which for both had been present for years and not months. It is so easy to limit our God but He will move wherever there is faith because He is totally committed to heal. Our pastor, Paul, is one man who will use oil as can be seen in James 5, as he is praying for various people. It is never a surprise to then find people who are healed. I recall using oil in praying for a lady in Kenya who had had a stomach complaint for over 5 years. As I prayed using the oil, the stomach condition disappeared.
In Acts 19 verses 11 and 12 we read how handkerchiefs and aprons were used by the apostle Paul. The sick were healed and evil spirits were driven out as a result. When these are prayed over in faith the Holy Spirit can move powerfully which I have had the joy of seeing on many occasions. My friend, Pete and I, gave a handkerchief which was left under the pillow of a man in the neighbouring town of Belper owing to the fact that he had had a serious life changing car accident. He was so bad that he was left in a coma. The doctors reported to the family that he would most likely not be able to communicate freely again. Within an hour of the handkerchief being left under his pillow, the unbelieving man sat bolt upright and began conversing totally normally to the amazement of everyone.
So many people I meet have experienced ongoing trauma often as a result of curses that have been spoken over their lives or that have been ongoing through generations. It is essential that we discern what the cause of sicknesses are. I have lost count of the masses of people who have had a curse removed and then are instantly freed from ailments. My wife had had fibromyalgia for nearly 9 years leaving her in debilitating pain. As I removed a curse so every bit of the illness left, all pain disappeared and her blood inflammation count came back into order. I never needed to pray against the illness itself. I see this again and again.
Jesus heals and will heal in so many different ways. We are encouraged to lay hands on the sick in Mark 16 and we do see thousands healed that way, but it is only one way. Let’s recognise that if we are praying for someone or ourselves using the laying on of hands and not seeing the results we desire, then maybe Jesus is encouraging us to explore something different such as any of the above. We serve a mighty covenant making and covenant keeping God. We even read in James 5 that we will be healed when we confess our sins to one another.
So let’s be encouraged to come to the throne of God like little children knowing that He desires to heal. Let’s seek him in the scriptures and worship the One who endured those stripes so that we can be healed. Let’s share testimonies of what he has done and see Him move on a continuous basis. Jesus heals so that he is glorified. May He be glorified through the family of people connected to Healing Rooms wherever we go whether in the parks and prisons or in meetings and marketplaces.
David Tee was teaching in the early 1980’s when a revival broke out in the primary school, and God moved in powerful healings and miracles. Over 150
students and teachers came to know Jesus within 3 months. David continues to see healings and miracles on an almost daily basis. He leads ministry teams overseas and has a passion for training the body of Christ to do the works of Jesus. David resides in Derby, England; loves playing cricket and has four children and eight grandchildren.
